Park Slope Piano

Park Slope Piano Studio
Private Lessons | In-home or In-studio

As a piano teacher,

  • I advocate for a holistic course of study integrating aural skills, technical facility, theoretical analysis, and historical knowledge.

  • I incorporate repertoire spanning the classical canon to contemporary composers, within and beyond the Western European tradition.

  • I introduce relevant concepts of music theory and history in order to discern the syntax and context of a piece.

My task is to cultivate your unique ability to understand, to hear, and to play the piano.

Ms. Saraceno is a very friendly, encouraging, and personable instructor. She keeps me updated with new pieces and exercises to practice and listen to each week. She also helps me work through pieces I’m struggling with by giving me specific tools with which I can tackle it. I enjoy working with her very much and wish I was able to take longer sessions with her.

Alex was very understanding and positive, she’d demonstrate creative practice techniques and other ways to improve my playing, rather than just telling me to practice.
— Former student, NYU
Alex’s enthusiasm for the piano, as well as her knowledge of music history and theory, enhanced the way I play and listen.

Studio Policy

  • I will teach students piano technique and artistry in a positive and enthusiastic environment. My goal is to empower each student to reach their short- and long-term musical goals through a personalized, holistic course of study that matches their unique learning needs.

  • Students are expected to arrive on time, well-prepared, and bring all required materials, including their assignment book.

Daily quality practice is necessary to make good progress.

Parents and students should ask questions about assignments to ensure clarity and understanding.

Parents: If something is happening at home or school that might affect your child’s learning or focus, please share it with me. The more I know, the better I can support your child’s musical journey.

  • Students are responsible for purchasing their own assigned music and lesson materials.

Materials are expected within 2 weeks of being assigned. Advanced notice will be provided whenever possible.

Students must have access to a quality piano for home practice. If you have questions or would like input on the purchase of an instrument please let me know.

  • Tuition is charged monthly and reserves a student’s weekly lesson time. Flat monthly rates are based on the total number of guaranteed lessons per semester, not on the number of lessons in any one month.

    Semester Breakdown:
    Fall Semester: September – January

    Spring Semester: February – June

    Summer Semester: July – August

A minimum number of lessons will be offered each term. Any studio closures (due to holidays, illness, or performances) will be communicated in advance.

All payments are non-refundable and processed through Fons.

Late Payments: Repeated late payments may result in termination of enrollment.

Withdrawal: Written notice via email is required 2 weeks prior to the next billing cycle. If notice is not received on time, tuition will be charged and the student may attend all paid lessons that month. Lessons will be canceled the following month.

  • Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are not eligible for a make-up.

Lessons canceled with 24+ hours’ notice may receive a make-up credit, to be used within 30 days, based on availability.

    Up to 2 make-up credits are allowed per term (Sept–Jan & Feb–June).

Make-ups do not reduce or apply to future tuition.

Teacher-canceled lessons (beyond the 44 guaranteed annually) will be rescheduled within 30 days.

Tuition is not adjusted for student absences. Planned vacations or conflicts, when communicated in advance, may qualify for a make-up credit within the same month.

Note: Enrollment in summer lessons is required to guarantee a fall term spot.

  • In case of mild illness, severe weather, or other conflicts, lessons may be held online.

If virtual lessons are offered, in-person make-ups will not be provided.

Students who opt out of a virtual lesson forfeit the lesson and tuition.

    Tuition remains non-refundable.

  • By enrolling and paying tuition for my child in Alexandra Saraceno’s Park Slope Piano Studio, I certify that I understand and agree to the 2024-2025 studio policies.

  • From time to time, I may share photos or short videos of students on the studio website, social media, or within the studio itself to encourage others and share progress. Students are only identified by first name. If you do not want your child’s image(s) to be used, please let me know.
